The tiny village of Schilpario with a population of 1300 people is 65 kilometers far from Bergamo. It's size is one of it's attractions, offering extensive cross country, nordic skiing and snow shoe trails in a quiet family atmosphere in a tranquil pictoresque Alpine village.

At 1135mt high and offering excellent slopes/runs for the enthusiasts of cross-country skiing and snow shoe walking in the heart of an almost mystical fir-wood forest, plunged into nature. The landscape is really unique and for those who do not ski, you can explore this magical wilderness on foot or with snow shoes. Pizzo Camino (2492m) overhangs the slopes which wind through the fir-trees. Beside the village, the gentle gradient slope of the mountain allows you to take advantage of an extraordinary Ski school association, founded in 1979, with trained and qualified teachers, some of whom are specialized for teaching cross-country to disabled people.



Next to the ski trails is an ice-skating centre (Creberg palace).
Moreover, one of the trails at Pista degli Abeti circuit, has night lighting that enables people to ski on wednesday nights from 8pm to 10:30pm. During Christmas period this trail has special opening times.

Ski or snow shoe hire with accesss to cross country runs is included in the price and snow machines keep the snow fresh throughout winter.

There is one downhill ski lift should you want a change from Schilpario's cross country centre. For a local supplement of 10 Euro you can get a one day ski pass with ski hire included.

Hotel Pineta*** not surprisingly is at the edge of a Pine forest. Not far away the river Dezzo winds it's way majestically through the Pine trees. Views of the Pizzo Camino mountain are spectacular. The Hotel maintains it's lodge style format and has recently been modernised. The family who own the Hotel are rightfully proud of their traditional home made cuisine, you certainly will not go hungary. The Hotel loves children and the surrounding cross country runs are well suited to children.
